Indications
The reduction of pain, swelling and inflammation of hemorrhoids. The treatment of pruritus. May be used in pre and postoperative hemorrhoidectomy, repair of fissures and after incision of thrombosed or sclerosed anorectal veins.
Contraindications
Sensitivity to any of the components. Hydrocortisone must not be used in the presence of tuberculosis, fungal and viral lesions.
Precautions
Discontinue use if sensitization occurs. In case of rectal bleeding, consult a physician promptly. Hydrocortisone should not be used until an adequate proctologic examination is completed and a diagnosis made. If secondary bacterial infection exists or supervenes, concomitant antibacterial therapy should be considered. The possibility, however rare, that prolonged use of this preparation might produce systemic corticosteroid effects should be borne in mind. Patients should be advised to inform subsequent physicians of the previous use of hydrocortisone.
Pregnancy
The safe use of corticosteroids during pregnancy has not been established.
Therefore during pregnancy they should not be used unnecessarily on extended areas, in large amounts, or for prolonged periods of time.
Overdosage
If signs and symptoms of systemic overdosage, occur discontinue use.
