Patient Medication Information: uses, side effects, how to take - Jascayd

What JASCAYD is used for:

  • to treat adults with a lung disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
  • to treat adults with a lung disease called Progressive Pulmonary Fibrosis (PPF).

IPF and PPF are conditions in which the tissue in your lungs becomes thickened, stiff and scarred over time. As a result, scarring reduces the ability to transfer oxygen from the lungs into the bloodstream and it becomes difficult to breathe deeply.

How JASCAYD works:

JASCAYD belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase 4B inhibitors. It regulates the activity of your immune system and reduces tissue scarring in your lungs. This slows the loss of lung function and helps maintain your ability to breathe.

The ingredients in JASCAYD are:

Medicinal ingredient(s): nerandomilast

Non-medicinal ingredients: Croscarmellose sodium, hydroxypropylcellulose, hypromellose 2910, iron oxide black (18 mg tablets only), iron oxide red (18 mg tablets only), iron oxide yellow (9 mg tablets only), lactose monohydrate, macrogol 8000, magnesium stearate, mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, talc

JASCAYD comes in the following dosage form(s):

Tablets; 9 mg and 18 mg

Do not use JASCAYD if:

  • you are allergic to nerandomilast or any of the other ingredients of this medicine

To help avoid side effects and ensure proper use, talk to your healthcare professional before you take JASCAYD. Talk about any health conditions or problems you may have, including if you:

  • are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. JASCAYD may cause loss of your pregnancy (miscarriage). It is not known if JASCAYD can harm your unborn baby. Tell your healthcare professional right away if you become pregnant or think you are pregnant while taking JASCAYD.

  • are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is not known if JASCAYD passes into breastmilk. You and your healthcare professional should decide if you will take JASCAYD or breastfeed.

  • Swallow the tablets whole, with water.
  • If you cannot swallow tablets whole, the tablet can be dissolved in water:

    • Place about 100 mL of non-carbonated, room temperature water in a glass. Only use water.
    • Drop the tablet in the water without crushing it.
    • Stir regularly for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, until the tablet is in very small pieces (the tablet will not completely dissolve in the water).
    • Drink the JASCAYD and water mixture within 2 hours of mixing.
    • If you do not drink the mixture right away, stir the mixture again before drinking.
